Service Description
Girls Who Can is a 12-week program for girls ages 12–14 that inspires confidence through hands-on learning, leadership development, and meaningful experiences at Sierra Overlook Animal Rescue. Participants will care for sanctuary animals, explore gardening and sustainability, learn basic construction and tool safety, strengthen leadership and teamwork skills, and complete projects that make a lasting impact on the sanctuary and their community. Program Details Dates: September 13 – December 6, 2026 Schedule: Sundays | 1:00–4:00 PM Student Showcase: Saturday, December 19, 2026 Ages: 12–14 years Location: Sierra Overlook Animal Rescue - Somerset, California Participants Will: 🐾 Learn compassionate animal care 🌱 Explore gardening and environmental stewardship 🛠️ Safely use tools while completing beginner construction projects 🤝 Build leadership, teamwork, and communication skills 💡 Develop confidence through hands-on learning and real-world experiences By the end of the program, participants will leave with practical life skills, lasting friendships, and the confidence to take on new challenges both inside and outside the classroom. Girls Who Can empowers young women to discover their strengths, believe in their abilities, and realize that they are capable of making a meaningful difference in the world. The Girls Who Can program is fully funded for eligible participants residing in El Dorado County through the generous support of the Women's Fund El Dorado Acorn Grant. Participants residing outside of El Dorado County are welcome to enroll through our Community Participant option for a tuition fee of $500. Registration is open through August 30, 2026. Enrollment is limited to provide each participant with a personalized, hands-on experience. We encourage interested families to register early, as space is expected to fill quickly.

Cancellation Policy
To help us provide the best possible experience for all participants, we kindly ask that reservation requests be submitted at least seven (7) days prior to the desired program, event, or visit whenever possible. While we will do our best to accommodate last-minute requests, availability cannot be guaranteed. Reservations are considered confirmed only after written confirmation has been provided by Sierra Overlook Animal Rescue. If you need to cancel or reschedule your reservation, please notify us as soon as possible. Cancellations received at least two (2) days prior to the scheduled program or visit may be rescheduled or refunded, if applicable, at no additional charge. Cancellations received fewer than two (2) days before the scheduled program or visit may be subject to cancellation fees or reduced refunds to help offset costs associated with staffing, scheduling, supplies, and program preparation. If a participant does not attend a scheduled program or visit without prior notice, applicable fees may be forfeited. Certain programs or events may have additional reservation or cancellation requirements. Any program-specific policies will be communicated at the time of registration or booking.
